I can't remember exactly when I moved to San Francisco, but I'm certain it has been over 30 years now.
Three decades.
Looking back, the 1990s was a period of renewed civil, social, and political change. Then came the 2000s through the 2020s, bringing the advent of the internet and social media. My, how time flies. It’s now 2026, and we are already moving past the mid-year mark and closing in on 2027.
As I reflect on these past three decades, I realize it’s been quite a remarkable journey. In that time alone, I’ve managed to achieve and do things I never thought possible, while learning to accept the shifting cultural climate. Whether it's navigating politics, engaging in social discourse, or celebrating America's 250th birthday, I'm plugging away every day to make my life worthwhile.
I travel a lot these days, making it a priority to spend meaningful time with friends and family. But I also make sure to tend to my own self-care and embrace time alone—a quiet space to reflect on where I've been and where I'm heading next.
In the meantime, I say: keep moving in a positive direction. After all, what’s the alternative?
It reminds me of a perspective shared by Sally Stephens:
"As they age, they won't have to live with the consequences of the policies they are crafting in San Francisco today."
