I started last September, 2022 in a University sponsored Diabetes prevention program free of charge for faculty and staff who have prediabetes or are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a year-long program that provides education, encouragement, and the tools necessary to help individuals reach their health goals.
My goal was to be able to avoid developing diabetes and create a long term goal of eating healthy, as well as losing weight.
I knew this would be a challenge, but I was up for it. Mid way through this program I have been able to gain a better understanding of how to prevent diabetes and eat properly. In fact, I discovered a new way of eating different types of food and also preparing nutritious meals since starting this program.
When I started this program, I weighed 175.6 pounds. As of this email, I've lost over 6 pounds. It does fluctuate, but I hope to maintain a steady weight at 160-165 pounds. I'm 5'6 inches.
Here is my look when I started the program.
Body weight: 175.6
I hope to lose more weight in the coming months. This program ends at the end of August of this year.
The last session will be focused on "Prevent Type 2 for Life!"
Let's see how I navigate to making sure I don't have this issue ever.
Stay tuned!
